Hi, my name is Tama...thanks for stopping by. I imagine you've surfed a number of counsellor profiles and websites before landing on mine. You're trying to feel connected to a complete stranger through words that might somehow move, resonate or click with what your feeling. You ask yourself will I be safe, can I be vulnerable, is she going to judge me? I get it and I understand the position you are in so rather than trying to convince you, I will just be myself and hope youre still interested.
About me and my practice
So what's different about me? Well...I am! I believe in connecting with purpose, creative expression and empowering others to be themselves. Aravah Therapy Service is a reflection of me; unique, different and intentional.
Why Aravah? Aravah means willow. The Willow tree has deep roots, is strong and resilient. Broken branches can form new roots, grow naturally but flourish when nurtured. This represents being human to me and our ability to fall, rise, grow and thrive even in the worst circumstances. I am a Willow!
I will listen to understand! Whether you're feeling hurt, fearful, anxious, depressed, grief stricken, lost, disconnected, lonely or unsafe and vulnerable - you will have a secure, confidential, empathic safe space to talk where you're seen, heard and held.
What can you expect? An honest, trusting, individually tailored relationship, with sensitively and ethically managed boundaries. You are the expert on yourself so the more you bring to the counselling space, the more you'll discover. Your therapeutic change may take a little or a long time but I will support you at a pace that feels right for you. Where you allow yourself to go, I will follow and hold you as long as you permit it. No pressure, just process!

I can help with a variety of mental health concerns including:-
Abuse, Anxiety, Bereavement, Cultural issues, Depression, Identity issues, Infertility, Loss, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues and Work related issues.
The majority of my experience is helping people through various forms of trauma so I am comfortable with psychological wounds and scars that need deeper exploration. Whatever your concerns, I understand they are important, precious and meaningful to you and we'll get through them together.
There are no restrictions, we can talk about whatever you want! If I can help, I will.
I will be careful with your vulnerability and trust, accept without judgement and help you make sense of the past, while you navigate the present. Last time I checked, broken crayons still colour. No pressure, just process.

Initial Consultation
Our first meeting is a 15-minute consultation where I ask for a little information and we figure out if we can work together.
After this, but before we get to the first therapy session, I will send you an assessment form and a counselling agreement for you to complete and sign. This ensures that we both understand the professional and therapeutic commitment we are entering and a chance to ask any questions.
Our first counselling session will be the start of our therapeutic engagement.
